- Original Network Installation Instructions
-
-
- 1. If you have a Hard Drive then install `Sernet' with the
- install icon on the WS Support Floppy distributed with the
- cable. For users without a hard drive please boot your Amiga
- with the WS Support floppy disk.
- 2. Hard drive users must configure their `Serial Prefs' on
- Workbench. This is completed by double clicking on the
- `Serial' icon in the `Prefs' drawer of your Workbench
- partition, (or the `Preferences' icon on 1.3 machines.) The
- settings should be altered to Baud Rate 19200, Handshaking
- NONE, Parity NONE, 8 Bits & 1 Stop Bits. Select these and
- click on `Save'. The floppy disk has already been set up in
- this way.
- 3. Boot the CD32 with the Network CD after connecting the
- cable to the AUX port on the CD32 and to the `Serial' port on
- the Amiga. Do not connect the cables with the machines
- switched ON. If the CD32 end of the cable is difficult to fit
- then please trim back the outer sheath on the CD32 connection
- plug by 4mm to ease connection. Boot the Amiga via hard drive
- or the WS Support floppy provided.
- 4. The next step must be completed on both machines. Double
- click on the `Sernet' icon in the Sernet drawer on both the
- Network CD and the Workbench partition on the Amiga. For this
- purpose you must be able to view the screen of the CD32 as
- this screen does not appear on the Amiga's monitor.
- 5. On the Amiga select the `DNET' window and using the right
- mouse button select `Send Break' from the menu at the top of
- the screen. Using the same technique select `Start Dnet' from
- the same menu.
- 6. An Fterm window will now open and announce `Opening Wait'
- whilst it communicates with the CD32. `Sterm' windows will
- then open and resize and then the original `Fterm' window will
- read `Cooked' in the title bar. This may be obstructed by
- other windows. If the machine stops at `Opening Wait' for
- more than a few seconds then the cable connection must be poor
- or the serial preferences incorrect. The windows may now be
- closed on the Amiga. The `IconX' window will have to be put
- to the back as it will probably not close.
- 7. To mount the `Network' device and inform the Amiga of the
- drives available on the remote machine please click on the
- `Mount Remote' icon on the Amiga, in the Sernet drawer.
- 8. This completes the Sernet Set-up. On the Workbench there
- will appear an icon called `Network'. This is the equivalent
- of a disk and contains the `CD0' drawer with the contents of
- the CD.
